Walking into your class at RIDETRIBE can feel exciting, intimidating, and maybe even a little overwhelming. If you’ve never clipped into a bike before or aren’t sure what happens in a cycling studio, just know that everyone in these doors has felt the same way at one point too. At RIDETRIBE, we welcome riders of all experience levels, and we’re here to make your first class an incredible experience from start to finish.
The first thing to know is that you do not need to be an athlete to thrive in this room. Whether you’re completely new to fitness, returning after a break, or looking to challenge yourself in a new way, our RIDE + LIFT classes are designed to meet you where you are. Every rider controls their own resistance and pace, allowing you to tailor the workout to your fitness level. All choreography and extra moves are optional and designed to amplify your ride.
When you arrive at the studio, we recommend showing up 20-30 minutes before class begins. This gives our team time to get you checked in, show you around the studio, and help you get set up on your bike. Proper bike setup is important for both comfort and performance, so one of our team members will adjust your seat height, handlebars, and riding position to fit your body. It is critical that your saddle matches your hip height, your handlebar distance is not too close or too far, and your riding form is correct before you ride. Our staff is there to guide you every step of the way!
If you’re wondering what to wear, keep it simple. Comfortable workout clothes and athletic shoes are perfect for your first ride. For females, leggings are the most popular choice and longer lined shorts for men! Don’t forget to bring a water bottle, as staying hydrated throughout class is essential.
Once class begins, you’ll quickly notice that indoor cycling is much more than just riding a stationary bike. The lights dim, the music turns up, and the energy becomes electric. Your instructor will guide you through a series of movements, including climbs, sprints, intervals, choreography, and recovery periods. Each section of the ride is carefully designed to challenge your cardiovascular system while keeping the workout engaging and fun.
One of the biggest misconceptions about indoor cycling is that everyone in the room is competing against each other. At RIDETRIBE, that’s not the case. While we have a board to display statistics for the ride, it is kept off over 90% of the ride and only shown for brief moments. Your ride is YOUR time! Some participants may choose heavier resistance, while others focus on maintaining a steady pace. Success isn’t measured by how you compare to the person next to you, it’s measured by showing up, giving your best effort, and celebrating your progress class by class.
After class, expect to feel accomplished, energized, and maybe a little sore. Indoor cycling is a highly effective full-body workout that strengthens your legs, improves cardiovascular endurance, and boosts mental well-being. Many first-time riders experience a little bit of soreness in the glutes (and the butt!), and that is totally normal! The good thing is, while you may be sore, you’ll also leave with a crazy rush of endorphins.
Perhaps the best part of indoor cycling is the community. At RIDETRIBE, we’re more than a fitness studio, we are a family. Our riders come from all backgrounds and fitness levels, united by a shared goal of becoming stronger together. From the moment you walk through our doors, you’ll be welcomed by a supportive community that wants to see you succeed.
If you’ve been thinking about trying your first indoor cycling class, there’s no better time to start. Every experienced rider was once a beginner. Take the leap, hop on a bike, and discover why so many people fall in love with indoor cycling. We can’t wait to ride with you at RIDETRIBE!
